There are some wedding days I wish I could relive over and over. The lively guests, the sleek fashion, the attention to detail, the adoration between the couple, the overjoyed families, the delicious dinner, the fun atmosphere, and epic views – it feels as if I need an entire day dedicated to each one of those elements to absorb them all. Sara and Joe’s Spring Holman Ranch wedding day was filled to the brim with every one of those elements – and more. It felt like everywhere I looked, another moment was happening. Despite so much going on, I also felt so connected and present to the day and the couple because everything was intentional. It was such a remarkable event and I’m so thankful we were able to be a part of it.
Sara and Joe wanted to spend as much time with their guests on their wedding day as they could. Because of this, we took almost all of their photos before the ceremony. They had a first look on the lawn by the charming Holman Ranch casita. Sara wore her hair up in a tight bun. Her Sarah Seven Viv gown with a classic V bodice fit her like a glove. Joe looked so handsome in a custom suit. They hugged, laughed, and wiped away tears. One of my favorite moments of the day was their gift exchange. Sara created a card for Joe that referred to an inside joke about their proposal – a hilarious story you can read more about here. Joe gifted Sara a petite monogramed journal with more than 150 pages. He told her that he had spent the last year filling in the pages every day with reasons why he loved her. He pulled out a pen, flipped to the back and filled out the last page right then and there. I thought my heart was going to burst.
Before the wedding ceremony, Sara’s dad slipped a 6 pence into her Bella Belle shoe – a good luck charm for a bride on her wedding day. The ceremony was filled with heartfelt readings from the mothers of the couple. The incredible Carmel mountains were the perfect backdrop.
Guests enjoyed cocktail hour with a martini bar – a nod to Joe and Sara’s favorite drink. Grazing on a charcuterie board, guests found their seats in the rose court with the help of a beautiful seating chart. After five tear jerking toasts, it was time for the party to start in the barn under the disco balls! The couple performed a cute choreographed dance and then the party got started! I don’t think I’ll ever hear “Don’t tell ’em” without thinking of this day! Everyone tore up the dance floor for hours with the live band. It was such an incredible celebration!
Sara and Joe – we adore you both! Thank you for giving us so much time the morning of your wedding to take portraits – and for being so present with your people for the rest of the day. It truly felt like we were one of the guests. I hope we get to see you again soon! Congratulations!
A big thank you to Style Me Pretty for sharing this wedding on their blog!
