Florists work incredibly hard. I had no idea what went into flowers when I got married a few years ago (and why they were so expensive!). After working with Amy from Gather Design Company, I have a whole new appreciation for all that goes into flowers for a wedding. Amy hired me to take photos of her and her team creating and installing florals for a micro private estate wedding this past summer. It was a small event with only 20 guests but the impact was macro! This couple had to put their larger celebration on hold for the time being, but they still wanted to tie the knot on their family’s property on their original wedding date.
The floral design was guided by a sense of place and a sense of seasonality. She wanted the florals to feel as though they were at home – letting the home guide the color palette and texture inspiration. Amy and her team created an incredible ceremony site. The four columns on the back deck were adorned in florals, as if they were growing. Similarly, florals grew up the staircase creating an impactful design.
The theme of growing florals continued throughout the bars, as large arrangements were placed at the base and appeared to be a natural part of the space.
To be mindful of the current season and social distancing, the reception tables were spaced out and seats were clustered together by family members. The kings tables had low compote arrangements. Hanging from above was greenery and bistro lighting. It was a remarkable micro private estate wedding.
