Since before Thomas and I moved to California, doing a Lake Tahoe engagement session has been on our bucket list. When Lisa mentioned wanting to take photos in Kirkwood, a city close to Tahoe, Thomas and I looked at each other with the biggest smile on our faces! Apparently Lisa had envisioned having engagement photos in Kirkwood since she was little, and I’m so glad that we were able to capture these for her and Travis! They were kind enough to invite us over for the whole weekend – and let us bring our pups! We love when engagement sessions turn into weekend adventures. We sat around the fire, drank hot chocolate and played Code Names while watching Top Gun. On top of their already gracious hospitality… Travis cooked every meal for us – he makes a mean breakfast.

Lisa and Travis are such a great couple! They share a love for travel, which we appreciate! Every year over the holidays they take an international trip, and this year they’re heading to Japan. They love to explore and get lost in new cities – trying new food along the way.

Travis must be the favorite grandchild, because when it came time to propose, his grandmother gifted him the most beautiful diamond. He updated the setting and proposed to Lisa at the Ritz in Half Moon Bay, overlooking the stunning cliffs of the Pacific ocean with this family heirloom. Shortly thereafter, Lisa and Travis decided to start planning their wedding. With a little back in regards to region, they decided on Carmel. To say we are excited for their June wedding at Carmel Valley Ranch with Prim Event Studio would be an understatement!

For their engagement session, we found spots conveniently around Kirkwood. Kirkwood Lake gave us those sierra Tahoe vibes. Lisa looked gorgeous in her green dress with the keyhole back. I still can’t get over how photogenic these two are! They interacted so naturally together. For their second outfit, they opted for a cozy fall feel. We found an open field with gorgeous blue mountains in the background. I absolutely love how these turned out!

Lisa and Travis, thank you for being incredible hosts and for treating us to such a special weekend away. We loved getting to spend quality time with you both and see a little slice of your history together. Have the best time in Japan – see you in June!
