November 26, 2019
The excitement was HIGH leading into Amanda and Grant’s Estancia La Jolla wedding day. It seemed like Amanda and I had messaged back and forth for months leading up to this day with our own secret countdown. Amanda was incredibly organized – I’m not sure I’ve ever had a bride know so many details about their day months ahead of time. But, what I really appreciated was that she also trusted us to “do our thing” on the wedding day. We worked together to ensure we could capture everything that was important to her and Grant – and the day was truly a breeze! It was our last wedding of 2019, and I don’t think it could have gone any more smoothly.
Amanda got ready with her bridesmaids at the caretaker’s cottage on the Estancia property. She and her ladies wore matching pajamas. Her two golden retrievers, Paisley and Poppy, joined the girls before Amanda put on her gown. Amanda’s dress was beautiful – and unlike any that I’d photographed. It had a high neckline and cap sleeves but the back plunged. She wore a delicate beaded belt to complete the look. I loved her pearl-accented Bella Belle heels too!
Grant also got ready on the property with the help of his gentlemen. He opened up a sharp watch that Amanda gifted him that morning and put on his three piece suit. Grant has the best smile, does he not?
Amanda and Grant shared a first look by the main Estancia staircase (I love those tile details!). Grant was getting emotional before Amanda even made it down the staircase and my heart just melted as these two saw each other for the first time. Those are my favorite moments.
The Estancia La Jolla wedding ceremony was held on the Olive Lawn. Before the ceremony began, guests were encouraged to partake in a ring warming ceremony, where they would hold the wedding bands and send positive thoughts, wishes, and prayers to the couple as they embark on this next step together. The lighting for the wedding was absolutely beautiful in the late afternoon. Grant walked the “flower girls” down the aisle. One of Amanda’s closest friends performed the ceremony and she did an incredible job telling their story and officiating the event.
For the reception, Grant and Amanda included so many fun details! They had a neon sign with their “Bran Goes Ham” slogan. Amanda’s grandmother made cookies for dessert that were out on display. Each table number was also represented by a football team (Amanda and Grant are huge Jets and Raiders fans!). Guests enjoyed playing jenga and cornhole when they weren’t tearing up the dance floor with the live band. And, they even had doggie bags filled with dog treats as a thank you from their pups.
Amanda and Grant, thank you so much for inviting us to document this celebration! It is always so special when a couple asks us to photograph their wedding before they’ve even selected a venue. You two were a joy to work with and I loved watching you two become husband and wife! I hope we have some dog dates in the future!!
