We have been dreaming of photographing a wedding in Italy for years now. And, despite the fact that we haven’t checked off that bucket list item, photographing this inspiration of an Italian wedding at Sunstone Villa in Santa Ynez makes me feel like I’m a little closer to that goal! The Sunstone Winery villa is breathtaking. Nestled in the hills just 20 minutes off the coast of California, this beautiful property was the inspiration for this wedding shoot.

Couture Events designed this Italian inspiration with a bit of bohemian flare – which was brought together seamlessly by the incredible loose fitting, beaded Carol Hannah gown. The bride looked like a goddess with her loosely curled hair and layers of accessories. In her hands she carried a loose bouquet with ranunculus, roses, and even some olive branches plucked right from the venue’s trees. The groom wore an ochre velvet jacket with a floral tie.

The ceremony was held under the oak trees. It was flanked by two floral structures, to create an asymmetrical modern arch. Guests sat on benches and distressed bentwood chairs. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a happier couple recess down the aisle!

The reception was set in the back of Sunstone Villa. Citrus accents with sage green and blush details created the perfect reception palette. I love how clean the space looked with the fresh white table against the limestone building.
