Georgia O’Keeffe has always been one of my favorite artists. In high school, I used to use her work as inspiration, trying to replicate her bright colors. The detail she would capture in florals inspired me to invest in my first macro lens. When I attended the Rebecca Yale Details 101 workshop in Napa, I wasn’t sure what to expect in terms of the design, but when Kate Siegel explained that each tablescape was inspired by a female painter, I immediately knew the bright pink and red wedding inspiration in Napa had been influenced by O’Keeffee. Known for her bold and innovative art – her unique take on florals, and dramatic landscapes, O’Keeffee is an iconic artist of the twentieth century.

I’m not sure what element of the pink and red wedding inspiration was my favorite. The wedding invitation by Underwood Letterpress is hard to beat! With the hand-painted textures that make their way to the menus on the reception table, the whole suite was flawless.

Max Gill Designs created an impressive install, complete with bougainvillea and whicker lanterns, above the head table. I loved how rich the colors were for this table. Each flower was placed perfectly – with the poppies stealing the show.

I can’t forget the dessert! Complete with ruffled icing with gold accents, this cake was a work of art!

I think it is amazing that artists inspire other creators and event professionals. This pink and red wedding inspiration in Napa definitely inspired me to be a little bolder – and may have changed my attitude towards red! I’m seeing in a totally new way now!
