Lori and Nick have one of the most heart-wrenching and heartwarming stories I’ve ever had the pleasure of hearing. When her initial inquiry came through, I had goosebumps. And clearly, I wasn’t the only one! The New York Times featured their love story (online and in print!!) earlier this year and it was a privilege to be a small part of their story. Nick and Lori’s wedding at Viansa is not just a celebration of their love but a testament to the strength of the love in the face of the darkest times.

As the world grappled with the uncertainties of the coronavirus, Lori didn’t give up on the chance to find love. After returning to Wisconsin to be with her parents during the unknown early days of lockdown, she downloaded Hinge. It was there that she connected with Nick, a former Navy pilot pursuing an MBA at Berkeley. Their initial conversations transcended the typical online exchanges, blossoming into nightly calls, love letters, and plans for a future that seemed both uncertain and promising. Before even meeting in person, Lori knew she had found her future husband in Nick.

Sadness struck Lori’s life when her father passed during the pandemic. In the midst of grief, Nick became a steadfast pillar of support, offering hope during the darkest days. Despite never having met face-to-face, Nick made a life-altering decision to move to Wisconsin and be with Lori and her family. Their first meeting in Chicago, marked by a red rose and a kiss atop a historic staircase, was the beginning of this next chapter.

Nick and Lori have since moved back to the bay area, and the picturesque Viansa served as the backdrop for Nick and Lori’s wedding. The day was incredibly windy – even causing Lori’s veil to fly from her hair – but to me it felt as though her dad was there in spirit. We all had goosebumps – the same feeling I had when reading Lori’s initial email.

With a color palette of white and blush, the venue reflected the elegance and timelessness of their journey. Floating candles added a touch of romance to the atmosphere, creating a warm and intimate ambiance in the wine cave at Viansa. The toasts kept everyone laughing. Nick and Lori cut their two tiered wedding cake and kicked off the reception with a beautiful first dance – complete with the perfect dip kiss!

Lori and Nick, thank you for inviting me into this chapter of your lives. You’ve truly inspired me. Your journey, from virtual connections to real-life companionship, is a story that inspires hope and belief in the transformative power of love. I hope others have been as touched as I have. Wishing you all the best in this next chapter together!
