I moved to the Tampa Bay area (St. Petersburg specifically) after graduation last year. I had started my business less than a year earlier and I was so worried about transplanting it in a new city. After starting my first real full time job, I didn’t know if I would have time for photography or if I would be able to start all over again. I was also getting started with film photograph. I am so in love with the soft tones that film creates.
After only a few months I was ramping up again. I had re-connected with Shannon, my inspiration and a photographer that I’ve followed since I lived in Gainesville that also lived in St. Petersburg. She told me about a photography networking and support group filled with women in Tampa. I joined the group on facebook and loved the support, encouragement, and critique that was offered. It was a safe place where you could talk about photos for as long as you wanted, ask for advice, or share a recent success or new tip.
Earlier this month, the group put on a styled shoot to help us build our portfolios, enhance shooting techniques and network with one another.
Cassandra, owner of the Ever After Vintage Weddings, did a wonderful job styling the event. I could hardly believe all of the details – not to mention she made so much of it. She and Lucy of Lucyna Aleksandra Portraits, put together the event and I couldn’t be more thankful for their hard work. The session took place a little outside of Tampa and took on a sweet southern peach vibe. Everything flowed together so well from the beautiful flowers and naked cake to the sweet heart table filled with vintage glasses from Cassandra’s personal collection. I love the flowers hanging on the back of the chairs and the way that Cassandra thought of everything – even the pink fabric coming out of the shelves in the antique dresser. All of the images below were photographed with my film camera.
I am so grateful that I have the opportunity to be a part of this network of powerful women photographers. Thank you!
