Joyce & Andrew: A Wedding at The Westwood New Jersey

August 30, 2014

A large part of me doesn’t want to post this blog about Joyce and Andrew’s wedding at The Westwood – for the sole reason that I don’t want my time as Joyce and Andrew’s photographers to come to an end. However, even if our time as their photographers is over, I know they won’t be able to get rid of us as friends. 🙂

I had been looking forward to this day for over a year. Finally, August 16th arrived – greeting us with a blue sky and a crisp breeze in the air.

The girls walked to Salon 212 right down the street. They were decked out in Avenger’s jerseys. Joyce’s bridesmaid, Crystal, had drawn cartoon version of all the characters and Joyce had ironed them onto the jerseys – very fun! The crew at Salon 212 took amazing care of the girls.

While the ladies had their hair and makeup done, the gentleman played video games and prepared for the upcoming Nerf war. #priorities

There were so many fantastic, intricate, touching, and delicate moments throughout the rest of the day. Here are some of my favorites:

-Andrew and Joyce’s first look brought tears to my eyes. I love the way they just held hands. I love the way Andrew kissed Joyce’s forehead. There was so much love!
-Their wedding rings were handmade my Joyce’s father and Andrew’s ring was engraved with “Home is wherever I’m with you” on the inside.
-Joyce’s father also made the ruby earrings and bracelet that Joyce wore. He made them when she was born and she wore them for the first time on her wedding day.
-Hannah and Mike’s sweet corgi, Tucker, made an appearance.
-The epic Nerf war that took place in Verona Park before the ceremony.
-Their personal vows – pinky promise and all.
-Joyce’s translation of her father’s toast
-The way the film photographs captured their love with a whole new softness
-Their perfectly choreographed first dance
-Joyce’s cascading bouquet – courtesy of Flowers by the Westwood
-Andrew’s cufflink that were passed down from his grandfather
-The table numbers all represented different songs. When your song came on – you danced with your table! Such a great way to get everyone on the dance floor
-The love these two share is unparalleled. Joyce brings energy and laughter while Andrew remains grounded, sarcastic, and adoring.

Andrew and Joyce. I don’t even know what else to say other than thank you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for letting Thomas and I be a part of your life and giving us one piece of wedding photography advice that we all decided to break – “never photograph your friend’s weddings.” Oops. 😉
