As a recent transplant to the bay area, I love hearing about how other couples made their way out here as well. When Emily and John reached out about taking Napa anniversary photos, Emily indicated she thought it was important to include quintessential California landscapes for the photos – to document their new home here. They relocated from Chicago at the beginning of the year and are loving their new home and the outdoor lifestyle that comes with it – hiking, biking, and swimming!

John and Emily met through a mutual friend about four years ago. Even though John was initially acting as a wingman the night they met, the day took a turn for him. Emily told me that she and John took one look at each other and they knew it was love at first sight! (Could they be any cuter?!) They started dating just a few weeks later. One year ago, Emily and John got married at an art center in Chicago. They honeymooned in Dublin and the Canary Islands.

At the beginning of August, we met at Hess Winery to capture some Napa anniversary photos for these two! The vine wall at Hess is so beautiful – but the light by the entry with the flowers was my favorite! After grabbing a bottle of wine, we headed to a private estate and snapped some photos in that dreamy California light that we all love! Emily and John sipped on Chardonnay while looking through their wedding album.

Emily and John, thank you so much for reaching out and asking me to document your first anniversary – and your move! California is so lucky to have you both! You two have a beautiful story and I am confident that your first year of marriage has just paved the path for more adventure and good times to come!
