Shelby and Toms are two of our closest friends – we get together every few weeks for some sort of outdoor activity and the day always ends with us sharing a meal, drinking endless cups of tea, and spending way more time together than anyone anticipated. The conversation constantly evolves and it feels like there’s never enough time to catch up on all of the life updates and common interests we have. Over the last year, Thomas and I have been hoping that they would get engaged – we would ask leading questions, but Toms would always defer, leaving a little mystery on the table. This past November, we got together for a hike, and sure enough, the next day (!), Toms proposed to Shelby on a rooftop in San Francisco. She was shocked and we were all thrilled for them!

Toms and Shelby are so great together – they push each other to bet better (a little competition never hurt), but also remaining a grounding support through life-changing decisions. They love to connect people, gathering friends and creating a community. Together, they host intimate get togethers (which we are always grateful to attend) with homemade meals and lively games. They’re intelligent, attractive, curious, open minded, thoughtful, athletic and passionate – truly the whole package. Together they are the best version of themselves. And they are friends we are very grateful to have in our lives! We love you both!

I was thrilled when we had the opportunity to capture their engagement photos out in the east bay – just as the poppies started to emerge from their winter hibernation. Shelby’s bright orange dress was the perfect nod to this spring season. Congratulations you two! We are so happy for you (and your families!).  Thank you for being such a meaningful part of our lives and making California feel like home. xx
