Thinking about Kate and Nick put such a big smile on my face – meeting couples like them are one of the reasons I feel so fortunate to have this career. Kate has the most radiant and joyful smile. And Nick was filled with the sweetest emotions during their first look and vows. It was truly heartwarming to be a part of their Carmel Mission and Monterey Peninsula Country Club Wedding.
Unfortunately, Kate and Nick’s original wedding day was impacted by the pandemic – but I’m grateful for every extra day I got to spend working with these two. Kate had a few requests for their wedding that was going to be make it a bit more logistically challenging – but we worked together with Lindsay (of Lindsay Lauren Events) and drafted (and redrafted) a timeline to make everything come together. Sure enough – after all of the discussions – the day ran so smoothly! A highlight of the day was getting to ride in the vintage car with Kate and her dad to the church before the ceremony. I may have been slightly terrified that we were going to break down along the way – but we made it! And similarly, I got to tag along on the ride as Kate and Nick drove to the water for some portraits during cocktail hour.
Kate’s gown was so beautiful. If I could go back in time and dress shop for my own wedding – I’d be trying this wedding dress on for sure! Such a classic silhouette with a touch of modern design. She carried a petite bouquet of Lily of the valley blooms and her hair was pulled back in a low bun. Nick and his groomsmen wore feather bow ties as a fun accent.
Nick and Kate got married at the Carmel Mission Basilica, where Kate’s sister had gotten married a few years earlier. I loved hearing them exchange their own vows – and laughing quietly to themselves throughout the ceremony.
They had a Monterey Peninsula Country Club wedding reception where guests found their seats with the help of a See’s candy escort display (a nod to Kate’s late grandmother who used to work there). The reception was elegant with a black and white design.
To kick off the reception, Kate’s dad, brother and uncle serenaded the wedding guests with a song they wrote about Kate. It was the perfect way to begin the evening’s festivities. After many hours of dancing, Kate and Nick exited through confetti poppers and into their Jeep.
Kate and Nick – I hope you know how much I adore you both and I truly hope that we get to see you every now and again. You filled my cup this year in the best way and I’m so grateful for your support and friendship. Thank you for being such a light!
A big thank you to Magnolia Rouge for sharing this celebration!
