This blog is a hard one for me to write because I don’t think words can do these two justice. Their hearts are so big. Their generosity is unparalleled. They support each other to the ends of the earth – encouraging each other’s dreams and side passion projects. We feel so fortunate to have met Emily and Steven and to have played a part in their Kiawah Island Club wedding day. It is a beautiful thing when our brides and grooms become more than just couples – but when they become friends – and these two are some of our favorites.
The wedding day started early at Cassique on Kiawah Island. The club house was incredibly charming and romantic. Emily put on her Anne Barge gown with the help of her mom. The finishing touch to her look was an aquamarine necklace that Emily’s mother put on her – a gift that she received on her own wedding day many moons ago. Emily’s wedding band also had aquamarine stones – as it is both her and Steven’s birthstone. In her hands, Emily carried a white bouquet with hints of blue – including anemones and orchids.
Emily and Steven decided to to a first look and I’m so glad that they did! We had plenty of time for incredible photos at this stunning venue. When these two saw each other my heart just stopped. All of the nerves melted away as they held each other and cherished that moment.
Their wedding ceremony was held at the Holy Spirit Catholic Church on John’s Island. It was a traditional ceremony, and we all enjoyed the service, vows, chorus and communion. Of course, watching these two become husband and wife was the highlight of the event!
After the wedding ceremony, we headed to the Kiawah Island Club for the tea ceremony. Emily and Steven changed into traditional attire. Each member of the family came up to Emily and Steven individually. They offered words of advice and congratulations as Emily and Steven served them warm tea.
After one more outfit change, these two were ready for the Kiawah Island Club wedding celebration to begin! The reception looked beautiful! Each table was named after a different composer. The centerpieces were filled with florals and candles for a romantic touch. The three-tiered floral cake complete with the couple’s new monogram was probably my favorite detail – so elegant and classy! Emily and Steven made their entrance and performed an impressive first dance! I have to say though, I got goosebumps watching Emily and her dad do their first dance. They pulled out all of the stops as they danced to the song that used to put Emily to sleep as a little girl.
Before long, the dance floor was packed for the evening as The Royals sang their hearts out! Having a live band always add an extra element of fun to a wedding day – and this was no exception! The singers joined the group on the dance floor – and at the end of the night Emily and Steven joined them on stage for one last song! It was such a great reception!
At the end of the evening, Emily and Steven exited through a sea of bubbles from The River Course club house. Surrounded by family and closest friends, it was the most perfect day!
Emily and Steven – I don’t want to wrap this post up because that means your wedding day has come and gone. It was so much fun getting to meet your friends and family! We truly adore you both and I know you have big things ahead of you! I can’t wait to see what you two accomplish together! Please stay in touch and thank you for all of your generosity and hospitality over the last year. We love you guys! Come visit!!
