“Always a student” is a mantra that Thomas constantly practices. Taking a page from his book, I decided to continue my education with a few workshops this fall. When I saw that Michael & Carina were hosting a workshop in Charleston, I had to learn more. Once I saw that they were planning a RiverOaks Charleston Wedding workshop, it was a done deal. The weepy trees with the Spanish moss. The European elegance, complete with blue shutters. Talk about a dream venue for a wedding!

This shoot drew inspiration from the draping, ghostly quality of Spanish moss. The deep, rich, autumn color palette enhances the richness of the trees and charm of RiverOaks.

For the wedding at RiverOaks, the bride wore a white tulle gown with a lace bodice. Her hair was pulled back into a loose updo, her bangs pushed off to one side. Her ornate Bella Belle shoes couldn’t have been more perfect! She carried a bouquet filled with purple blooms.

The table was placed under the shade of a tree, and above it hung a floral chandelier. I love the way the Spanish moss was tied into the table runner as well as the chandelier. The table was adorned with vintage flatware and organic textured napkins.

One of my favorite elements of the shoot was the paper goods. Call me old fashioned, but I love receiving letters in the mail, and this invitation would be no exception. Complete with wax seal, vintage stamps, and flawless calligraphy, this stationery sweet was a dream. I also adore the illustration of the venue!

The team that pulled this together worked so hard and did an incredible job! Despite a few speed bumps (as there always are with styled shoots – or wedding days) they came together and provided solutions that resulted in a flawless inspiration shoot at RiverOaks.
