January 13, 2017
Woot! This is my favorite blog post of the year! It is so fun to look back on just one short year and see how much we’ve grown and accomplished. This was a big year for us! I set a lot of goals and we accomplished almost all of them!
The end of the year (errr – or the beginning of the next one) also provides an opportunity to reflect on how many people have supported us in our adventure thus far. Not just this year, but every day since we started this business. This year I feel so thankful for all of the couples that we’ve met and all of the ‘friendors’ that have truly become our friends! Thank you all for every bit of support – it means the world to us.
In 2016, Thomas and I…
-photographed 19 weddings (11 of them in the last three months of the year!)
-captured 38 engagements and other sessions
-took over 18,000 film photos (all of the images shared below were shot on film 🙂 )
-got married (eek!)
-were published over 40 times on wedding and photography blogs – including some bucket list blogs like Style Me Pretty, Green Wedding Shoes, Magnolia Rouge, and 100 Layer Cake.
-photographed our first proposal (I’ve never had my heart race like that!)
-attended a workshop in Dallas with Amanda Watson – who is just the sweetest (can’t wait to see her again in March!)
-helped pull together and photograph 9 styled shoots (my word, how did that happen?!)
-survived having film lost (and found) in the mail – yes this happened last year, but it is terrifying every year and deserves its own line every time that it happens…
-somehow managed to purchase another film camera (ugh, that was Thomas’s fault)
-photographed a boudoir session for the first time (ooh la la)
-visited some awesome states – and countries (What’s up South Africa, Canada, Massachusetts, Colorado, Maine, North Carolina, Tennessee and New York?)
-tackled our first double header weekend (that means two weddings in one weekend 😉 )
-started the rebranding process – that will come in 2017! (notice the white boarder on the photos…that’s because the purple is going awayyyyy!!)
And…I
-quit my job and started doing this full time! (with a lot of pushes and encouragement from Thomas) So on that note…one final huge thank you for Thomas. Still not sure how he manages to be so selfless when it comes to his weekend time. He is the best teammate I could ask for! Without him I never would have made this leap to follow my dream and I’m so incredibly grateful that I get to call this my job.
Here’s to hoping 2017 is filled with even more adventure, film, opportunities, and love.
Hugs and happy new year to you all!
