Summer weddings in Seattle are unbeatable! Zili and Joseph had a Thornewood Castle wedding outside of the city. Thornewood Castle has quite a history. It was purchased in England in 1907 while Mr. Thorne was on his honeymoon. He had it taken apart and shipped to Seattle where it was put back together, brick by brick for his new bride. When a venue houses such a beautiful love story, you know it must be the perfect place for a wedding! The castle is grand and seems as if it was taken straight out of Beauty and the Beast! The main entrance has impressive clocks and candelabras.
Zili got ready for the big day in one of the suites that overlooks the garden which was designed by the Olmsted brothers (who also designed our wedding venue!). Her dress with floral appliques and sleeves hung in the window. On the floor below the gown sat her lavender Manolo Blahniks that complimented the color scheme of the wedding perfectly!
Joseph and Zili shared a first look in the garden. First looks are always my favorite part of the wedding day! Joseph looked sharp in his gray suite with his burgundy bow tie. Zili’s hair was pinned in a high bun and adorned with a crystal floral hair piece. In her hands she carried a loose garden-style bouquet filled with maroon, white and deep purple flowers created by Thatch Floral. Zili and Joseph could not have looked more perfect together!
The ceremony was held in the late afternoon in the garden. Guests were welcomed with signage and a table filled with frames. They found their seats in a mismatched collection of wooden vintage chairs. A harpist and cellist serenaded us all before the ceremony began.
During the ceremony, the bridesmaids, dressed in blush, lined the stairs on the left and the groomsmen mirrored them on the right. Zili and Joseph stood before a grand floral arch and exchanged their vows in the garden.
Their Thornewood Castle wedding reception was held in one of the main rooms on the ground floor. Every guest found their seat with the help of an incredible escort display of champagne glasses. The reception hall had a variety of long and round tables with high and low centerpieces. At every seat was gold flatware, a scripted menu, and a wooden name card that doubled as a favor. Every detail was thought out and executed flawlessly with the help of Lovely Time Weddings.
Zili and Joseph shared their first dance to Beauty and the Beast’s “Tale as Old as Time” which was so fitting for the location. All of their guests erupted with applause at their twirls and dips! The evening concluded with a sparkler exit as the sun began to fall. Zili and Joseph departed just in time to watch the sun set over the lake behind Thornewood Castle.
Joseph and Zili, thank you so much for including Thomas and I in your incredible celebration! The day could not have been more beautiful. I know you have many adventures ahead of you – working together and celebrating each step of the journey along the way! Congratulations!
We are so excited to see their wedding featured on Magnolia Rouge – one of our favorite wedding blogs!
