Danielle Poffenbarger of Danielle Poff Photography is an amazingly talented photographer that I’ve followed for some time. While I was initially drawn to her work because of its soft, romantic, yet fun feel, I knew she was something special when I saw she had a mini golden doodle. (I have since found out that she has always wanted a westie!) When I saw that Danielle was hosting a workshop in the drop. dead. gorgeous. Holman Ranch in Carmel Valley, I couldn’t think of a reason not to embrace the opportunity and take a vacation (more on that coming to the blog soon).
We packed our bags….including three cameras, boxes of film, and a handful of memory cards. Our flight took off in the wee hours of the morning (shout out to Melissa for the ride) and off we went! We arrived in Carmel at 8:30 PM after multiple stops at regional parks along the drive from San Francisco to Carmel.
The next morning I woke up with excitement running through my veins. Not only was I bound to learn new techniques – I would be surrounded by inspirational photographers.
The ranch was even more beautiful than I imagined. The rustic stone buildings were elegant, yet down to earth.
At 9 AM, the workshop began. The day included portfolio and website critiques as well as how to improve our social media presence. I learned about how to market myself and how to connect with clients.
There are a lot of challenges as a small business owner that a client or a friend may not recognize, but Danielle answered every question thoughtfully. I look froward to incorporating what I learned into my business. (Side note: Danielle has inspired me to start offering wedding albums – get excited!)
After over 8 hours of learning, we were all itching to shoot. Danielle coordinated with phenomenal vendors to produce a styled shoot that was more than I could have dreamed up.
The bride and groom were super sweet and shared the best laughter and smiles.
I’m so thankful that I had this opportunity. Please take a few moments to be inspired by the other photographers that I met. Please, send a few likes their way.

Finally – a huge shout out to all of the vendors included in the day.
