We got to spend our Labor Day weekend with some of our favorite people – Nick and Dana! They had a private estate wedding on Chappaquiddick – a slice of heaven right off of Martha’s Vineyard! And…after their snow storm proposal and two engagement sessions filled with dreary weather, they finally got incredible sunshine for their wedding day.
There were so many meaningful details woven into their wedding day. Dana’s aunt designed their wedding invitation – featuring flowers that are found on the island. Dana’s father made their ring box out of three different types of wood – all from locations that were meaningful to Dana and Nick’s relationship. They had nautical flags that spelled out their initials hanging as guests made their way to the ceremony – to represent their love for sailing. Sadly, Dana’s grandfather passed away just a few weeks before the wedding. On his seat, they left his boutonniere atop an Irish poem he often read. I know he was there in spirit.
Nick and Dana opted to do a first look – and I love the way they just held each other after seeing one another for the first time. Shortly after, their wedding party dressed in seafoam dresses and gray suits joined us on the beach for some portraits. Their crew of friends was the best! I’ve never had the opportunity to get to know the ladies so well throughout the day, all of Dana’s friends welcomed me in as if I was one of the bridesmaids! It was so nice.
During the wedding ceremony, Nick and Dana had one of Nick’s sisters do a reading and Dana’s father serenaded us all with a song he used to sing to Dana when she was a child. Everyone had goosebumps.
As the sun set over the marshy water, guests found their way to the patio for the reception. Starting with Dana and Nick’s first dance, the rest of the guests joined them on the dance floor for an evening filled of fun! The live band was incredible and had so much energy.
Dana and Nick, it was incredibly special to spend your wedding day with you. My friendship bracelet loving heart still can’t believe that my PB&J camp buddy is married, and that I had the opportunity to be a part of it. Thank you for letting us celebrate with you! I’m so glad that you two found each other. I’m so proud of all you’ve accomplished together – and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for you! Congratulations!
