Oooooh! You guys, this is a good one! We knew Cait and Ben were something special from the beginning. I don’t know if I have ever laughed so much while reading emails – but without fail – Cait sprinkles hilarious color into her emails and it always makes me look forward to opening them. When she and Ben wanted to do something a little more “them” for their engagement session, I knew magic was going to happen! These two were kind enough to invite us to their beach cabin for their Hood Canal engagement photos! This weekend was so much more than that though. We ate delicious food, boated to and from our engagement session, drank a few cocktails while shooting (uhh, that’s a first…sorry the ones at the end were blurry… ha!), spent some time around their fire pit, and even took a nap on the day of their session. It was just what my soul needed after a jam-packed spring. These two energized my heart and reminded us of all of the reasons why we have the best job in the world.

Ben and Cait met at a restaurant. When they met, Cait was immediately taken by the fact that it felt like she had known Ben for years. That is the best feeling! When Ben was ready to propose, he knew he had to get permission from Cait’s dad. However, he also knew that Cait’s dad wasn’t great at keeping secrets, so his window was small between asking for permission and proposing to Cait. Cait’s dad was in town for a long weekend before a UW football game, and he took that as an opportunity to speak with him. The next morning, while enjoying their daily coffee together, Ben offered Cait a coffee cup filled with something different – an engagement ring!

I would be remiss not to mention their perfect dog, Lucille, fondly called Loose. Oh my heart, I wanted to take her home to join our pack!! She was the sweetest little snuggle bud and always up for an adventure. She even joined us on the boat!

As if I haven’t bragged on them enough, Cait and Ben had some incredible outfits for their engagement photos too! I loved the pop of bold color that Cait wore – it just felt like summer. For the start of their session, we went to Hama Hama Oyster Saloon. We snapped some photos in the mountains of oyster shells. How crazy is that? From there, Ben brought us to a creek bed. The light there was stunning! After our nap, we boated over to Pleasant Harbor marina and took photos along the docks. There is something so inspiring to me about nautical details. Our session ended on a rocky beach as the sun set behind the blue mountains. It was the perfect day.

Our weekend in western Washington is one that I’ll cherish for years to come. Hood Canal stole a piece of my heart that weekend, and Cait and Ben, I’m so grateful that you shared your special spot with us! I’m so glad we had the opportunity to spend so much time together. We cannot wait to see you again in less than a month, on the other side of Washington! So grateful for you and your ability to put the biggest smiles on our faces! Hugs!
