We were so thrilled when Zili and Joseph asked us to photograph their wedding at Thornewood Castle outside of Seattle this summer. We love getting to know our couples before the wedding, so we flew out a month prior for their engagement session at Discovery Park. Everything was so lush and green – it was a beautiful time to be in Seattle. As the sun set, we suggested an impromptu stop in Queen Anne as the light is so beautiful there!

Zili and Joseph met in college at a cocktail party. As they both had incredibly similar educational paths – Joseph became a mentor for Zili over the years. They both studied accounting, they participated in the same study abroad program in Ireland a few years apart, and later, they both graduated with their Master’s in accounting from UW. They fell in love along the way.

Joseph proposed with the help of modern technology! He put together a slide show of photos and videos of the two of them together that he had Zili watch through Virtual Reality. While she was watching, she slowly walked into a heart created with rose petals (that she couldn’t see with the headset over her eyes). When Zili took off the headset, she saw their home decorated and heard their favorite songs playing. Joseph got down on one knee and proposed!

The engagement session at Discovery Park was so fun (minus the fact that we were terrified of the cars getting towed…)! We made pitstops on our drive through the park. Zili wore a beautiful gown from Adrianna Papell – and these two were absolutely perfect together! They had the sweetest smiles and the best laugher! At the end of their session we shared a meal at one of their favorite restaurants – Boiling Point.

Zili and Joseph – we had such a great time getting to know you both over the last few months! Your wedding was one of our favorites! You two are so kind and thoughtful. We hope we can reconnect again soon some time when we’re up in Seattle! Congratulations you two!
