I was so excited that the time had finally come for Martine and Steve’s Vizcaya Gardens engagement session! We had been working with them for six months but just couldn’t manage to get our calendars to align. When they told us they were hoping to do their session at Vizcaya in Miami, I practically did cartwheels! It is one of my favorite spots for photos in Florida and it was so worth the wait!

Martine and Steve have one of the most heartwarming stories I’ve ever heard. When I read Martine’s email, I got goosebumps. She did such a perfect job telling it, I’m going to share her words directly, as mine won’t do it justice.

“We met at a pretty lackluster bar in Chicago on April 6, 2013. Complete strangers, not even 3rd degree connections on LinkedIn, he was out being a wingman for one of his friends, I was at a friend’s birthday. The catch 22 being that I wasn’t even going to head out that night knowing it would be my grandmother’s last. My mom convinced me staying in would do nothing. Indeed that night was her last, but I know she secretly brought us together as soon as she became an angel. 4.6.13 will always be so special to us.”

Needless to say, these two ended up talking about golf (it was the week of the Masters). Steve soon learned that Martine played for Pepperdine in college. He was skeptical and decided to look it up on Google. Sure enough, there was Martine! With a mutual love for the game, they hit it off instantly and have been together since – golfing, binge watching Netflix, and enjoying Sunday dinners together.

Steve and Martine, we couldn’t be more excited about working with you two! We had a great time seeing you both in Miami for your session. You two were such champs! Can’t wait to celebrate your marriage with you in April!
