At the beginning of 2015, I set a handful of goals for the year. That list included a few goals I knew I’d accomplish (you all know how good it feels to check off that box) along with some “shoot for the moon goals.”

That list of goals included attending a workshop. When I stumbled across Jessica Lorren’s post on Instagram about her dual workshop with Jessica Sloane at the Cordelle was something I had to learn more about. This was a really intriguing workshop because it wasn’t just for photographers – it was created for stylists (think of them as creative directors of weddings) as well.

February 9th finally arrived and I was filled with excitement and anticipation. So many tidbits to learn and new people to meet (even a nearby local friend – Lisa from Wish Rentals). Plus, if you’ve ever seen a wedding at the Cordelle in Nashville, you knew how beautiful this place was going to be!

Both of the Jessica’s were wonderful and worked flawlessly together. Answering questions from across the board.

After lunch, we were set loose to practice styling. Tables were covered with ribbons, invitation sets, stamps, plates, candles, and fabric. We practiced setting up different scenarios, asked for feedback, and snapped photos on our phones.

A handful of the attendees grabbed dinner at the end of our first day. It was delicious, but the evening ended up in mini-panic mode when my phone had died, I was carless, and wasn’t exactly sure what my friend’s address was or how to get home. Amy was nice enough to take me back and we all made it safely (phew).

The next day of the See Session was the styled shoot wedding at the Cordelle. The two Jessica’s had brainstormed a mood and theme for the session. It was inspired by Edgar Allen Poe. The session was styled perfectly and the Cordelle was a perfect backdrop for the moody feel.

Jessica walked us through each shot behind her Contax and offered feedback and advice along the way.

It was a really great learning opportunity for me. I was able to expand my portfolio and learn some new tips while working alongside amazingly talented photographers.

A huge thank you to all of the vendors that put their creative juices and talent into this workshop!

I’m thrilled to see this session featured over on Artfully Wed!
