Describing Kerry and Spencer’s love is no easy task, because words don’t do it justice. I don’t know if we’ve ever been with a couple that is simply so excited to be together. They radiate joy. They love every moment they are together. They take advantage of every opportunity to hold hands (or kiss at a red light). These two are an amazing couple – the way that they support each other – the way they look at one another – and the positive energy that they spread to everyone they interact with. Thomas and I could not have been more honored to be part of their Providence Public Library wedding day – and to celebrate alongside them and all of their amazing family and friends.
I love that Kerry and Spencer’s wedding day pulled in the same color scheme as their engagement photos in Iceland – talk about cohesive! The girls got ready at a hotel in Providence – steaming their blue-green dresses and drinking mimosas. Even though there were nearly ten girls in the room, the environment was so relaxed. Evy, the flower girl, definitely kept everyone entertained. Kerry’s sister and mom helped her slip into her Watters gown from BHLDN. The crisscross back detailing was the perfect accent. Around her wrist, she wore a diamond bracelet borrowed from her godmother. Wrapped around her lush, organic bouquet was the sleeve of her mom’s wedding dress – buttons and all!
Spencer got ready with his groomsmen at a local airbnb. Kerry gifted Spencer an incredible pair of cuff links – shaped like double figure eight knots. Double figure eight knots are the knots you use when you’re rock climbing. Being climbers, this was the perfect gift, but beyond that, there’s the “tie the knot” implication as well as the deeper romantic metaphor about how when you’re climbing you know you can challenge yourself to improve because you have this strong and reinforced knot connecting you to your belay partner which allows them to catch you when you fall. What a perfect wedding day gift for Spencer!
Kerry and Spencer had their first look at the Van Wickle gates on Brown’s campus. Despite it being a popular spot for foot traffic, in this moment, it was empty and they could soak in this moment together. Spencer had such a perfect reaction as he saw Kerry for the first time!
The Providence Public Library was the perfect spot for their wedding. The elegant building is so beautiful that it hardly needs additional decor. The marble and columns, along with the incredible staircase – this location speaks for itself. Kerry and Spencer had their ceremony in the main atrium. Adding in personal color in their vows, as well as having their friend Greg (who connected them initially) be the officiant – it was a wonderful ceremony to represent them and start their marriage!
The evening continued with heartfelt toasts, a first dance filled with twirls (I mean, how can you not with that dress?), dozens of donuts, and tons of dancing (and break dancing!). Everyone was so thrilled to see these two come together – it was such a heartfelt celebration for two amazing people. It is no surprise that they had so many guests – Kerry and Spencer are the kind of people that instantly become friends with everyone they meet.
Spencer and Kerry. Wow. Thank you! You two are so meaningful to us. You happened to be there for some of our biggest life changes – not to mention being the best tour guides for us in a new country. To receive hugs after the wedding ceremony – as if we were part of the wedding party – meant so much. We love you guys and can’t wait to see what you two accomplish together as a couple! Congratulations!
A big thank you to The White Wren for sharing these images on your blog!
