Days before a wedding, I have this terrible habit of checking the weather. At some point I’m going to have to recognize that no matter how many times I check, I won’t be able to make those clouds on the radar disappear. A few days before Jilian and Aron’s wedding the forecast looked ominous – 90% chance of showers and thunder storms.
March 28th arrived and I packed every umbrella I could find along with my rain coat and plastic bags for the cameras (super hi-tech).
When I arrived at the hotel where Jilian and Aaron were getting ready, Jilian and her bridesmaids were singing show tunes, curling their hair and applying makeup, happy as could be. (Granted, I expect nothing less – Jilian is a very high spirited and optimistic lady). While I know that Jilian checked the weather, she didn’t sound panicked at all. This was the day she was marrying her soul mate – and that was all that mattered. Rain or shine – this would be the best day of her life.
A few more songs, a caravan of dresses and bags, (a forgotten bow tie), and a stop at Starbucks later, we were all on our way to Saxon Manor.
Meanwhile, the boys were straightening bow ties, drawing caricatures of Aron, and jamming out on the guitar.
Upon arrival at Saxon Manor, the boys posed it up with Thomas while I learned about new wedding traditions (penny in the bride’s shoe?).
Jilian was drop dead gorgeous (complete with hair by Maid of Honor, Amy, and make up by Man of Honor, Ryan) and had a bouquet that even included succulents!
Aron and Jilian shared the biggest smiles and heartwarming excitement during their first look.
Their sweet ceremony included a candle lit aisle, an adorable flower girl, a slightly grumpy ring bearer, and a candle lighting ceremony that everyone in attendance enjoyed. Jilian and Aron exchanged personal vows that were very touching. Towards the end, we were all serenaded by Amy, the Maid of Honor.
The evening continued in the stunning reception area – a tower of cupcakes, twinkle lights, more succulents, and to die for center pieces – yes, please!
Three very memorable toasts were made and there was a mini rendition of Bat Boy, the musical (because I know you all have heard of it… 😉 )
Once the dancing began, I had to pause for a moment and take it all in. In my whole life, I have never seen people dance with such enthusiasm. It was as if they were on stage, performing in front of hundreds of people. It was quite a sight to see – and it makes me want to attend more thespian weddings! 😀
I forgot to mention that we all made it through the day with minimal shower sprinkles – the rain held off, just like Jilian knew it would. It was a beautiful wedding with so many perfect moments. I couldn’t be happier for Jilian and Aron. The joy that they share is adorable (and it brings a smile to my face as I write).
Congratulations, Jilian and Aron! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for including us in your wedding day. You two are perfect for one another. I hope you continue to grow together and share even more happiness in the upcoming years. Hugs!
