When I first received Cheryl’s inquiry email I knew we were in for a treat! She was bursting with excitement about her upcoming wedding and was just smitten with her fiance Michael. It seems that Michael brought out the best in her – teaching her about romance that she assumed was just in the movies. I was thrilled that they wanted to work with us and the icing on the cake was that we had the opportunity to travel to Colorado Springs for their Garden of the Gods engagement session! But before I share all of the photos – let me tell you more about these two!
When Cheryl met Michael she was a corporate girl working in the medical industry. She loved helping people and enjoyed volunteering. She played by the rules, stuck to a schedule and even considered herself to be a bit of a control freak. Michael is a watchmaker and business owner. He is relaxed, down to earth, and walks to the tick of his own clock. 😉 Michael has taught Cheryl to relax a little and enjoy life as it unfolds.
Neither Michael nor Cheryl were looking for someone when they met. Cheryl had a close colleague and friend call her in 2012 and ask her if she would be open to a blind date on Mother’s day. That day, she met Michael, who unbeknownst to her, was her friend’s uncle. In Cheryl’s own words, “Michael is hard not to fall in love with. He is warm, kind, calm, romantic and has one of the most generous loving hearts of anyone I know. He has become the rock that supports me and my calming breeze.”
When Thomas and I arrived in Colorado Springs for their engagement session and finally met these two, my heart was so warm. Their home was made up of beautiful antiques. They have the most adorable puppy, Jake. Cheryl and Mike are so content and happy together. It is just so easy to see how they fell in love with each other. They treated us like royalty when we were with them. We were greeted with Colorado coffee mugs and a thoughtful note. They put us up in a charming cabin next door and treated us to a delicious dinner with their family. We had such a relaxing weekend with them. I hope we have the opportunity to go back again!
For their engagement session we hiked to Mother’s Rest, a waterfall by their home. Jake joined us for that and he may have stolen the show! He’s just the cutest! In the afternoon, these two dressed up for the incredible backdrop – Garden of the Gods. I was so impressed by the incredible nature that surrounded us! What a beautiful landscape! Cheryl and Michael were such troopers as Thomas and I snapped away. I think we captured some really sweet moments – these photos melt my heart!
Cheryl and Michael, thank you for everything! For being an inspiration, for being so fun to work with, and for the generous hospitality you showed us during our stay. We are thrilled for you both and we can’t wait for your wedding in Louisiana this May. It will be the perfect way to celebrate seven years together!
